About Smookie Illson:
Smookie Illson is a bass music collective formed by longtime creative collaborators Keith MacKenzie, Fixx & D:RC. The first demos by the illicit trio were quickly snapped up by James Amato’s Potty Mouth Music and released in the fall of 2012. They followed up with a string of self-released originals and bootlegs, with their 2013 update of ‘Club Action’ by Florida’s Yo Majesty! becoming a constant fixture in festival playlists by luminaries like Skrillex & Diplo, RL Grime and Baauer. Since then, the crew’s been curating sounds for their nascent imprint ‘Ill At Will Music’ and delivering releases on Play Me Records and Simplified Music with notable collabs like the ‘YOGA EP’ with NOLA’s Keno and ‘Compound Riddims’ with UK’s Ragga Twins. The trio have been experimenting across tempos with releases on Basscvlt and Brooklyn Fire, a collab with Lisbon’s Holly on Otodayo Records as well as an official remix for UK D&B duo Drumsound & Bassline Smith alongside Deekline.
